Footprints (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Footprints mobile application (the “App”).
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- Email address
- Username
- Profile photo (optional)
Health Data (HealthKit)
Footprints uses Apple HealthKit only to read step count data, with your explicit permission.
- We do not write data to HealthKit
- We do not collect other health metrics
- Step data is used only to display progress inside the App
Health data is never sold and is not used for advertising or tracking.
User Content
When you post content, we may collect:
- Photos you take or upload
- Text you include with posts
- Optional location information you choose to attach to a post
- If you attach location, we display general location context (for example, city or neighborhood level)
Location data is optional and only included if you explicitly allow it.
Device Permissions
Footprints requests permissions only when needed:
- Camera – to take photos for posts
- Photos – to upload photos for posts
- Location – to attach location context (optional)
- HealthKit – to read step count only
You can revoke permissions at any time in device settings.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide core app functionality
- Display activity and posts
- Enable social features
- Moderate content and enforce guidelines
- Respond to support requests
3. Moderation, Reporting, and Blocking
Users may report content or block other users. Reported content may be reviewed and removed if it violates our Terms of Service.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We use trusted services (such as Firebase) to securely operate the App.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data is retained while your account is active
- You can delete your account within the App (once available) or contact us for assistance
- Upon deletion, data is removed in accordance with applicable laws and legitimate operational needs
6. Children’s Privacy
Footprints is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
